Brier Overview and Fun Facts
Welcome to Brier Elementary!
With any community comes history. Below is some fun information to know about us.
Brier Elementary opened in 1965 at around the time the City of Brier was incorporated. We celebrated our 50th year of serving our community during the 2014-2015 school year. We look forward to many more years!
Our school was originally scheduled to be called 'Shasta View.' During the naming process for what was to be the City of Brier, the name 'Shasta' was a leading contender at one point, and the district named the school accordingly. In the end however, 'Brier' was chosen for the new city, and the school was renamed. For a number of years after opening the name 'Shasta View' was visible on some of the interior ceiling beams, until the first interior paint job. The school has withstood a lot of activity but is still going strong. During the summer of 2008 Brier Elementary was retrofitted to meet the latest seismic requirements. Part of the upgrade included the installation of the angle braces that now tie the ceiling to certain walls.
We are the home of the Bobcats. Our BRE Pride Pledge is: “At Brier, we are Responsible, Kind, Respectful and Safe. I am ready to learn and will encourage other to be successful because learning comes first!”
One of our parents wrote the words for a Brier Elementary Cheer song and our music teacher at the time added the music.
